Daily Beast argues today that central and western Iraq should be left to Al Qaeda in Iraq, renamed severally including "ISIS." Salafi hate-based terrorism is fine. Giving terrorists 25 million people to rule ??? That is irrelevant to Middle East politics. Mass murders don't matter. Kidnappings of women and children by the hundreds are acceptable. There are no consequences.
Eli Lake and Nick Gillespie in two pieces argue a case for neutrality toward ISIS in 2014.
They never analyze ISIS. Photos of genocide disappear from the public record. Human Rights Watch might as well pack up and go home. What they do is flesh out the argument for neutrality by listing the drawbacks of Operation Mess'o'potamia [Iraqi Freedom] from 2003. That invasion was also known as The Tenth Crusade.
"The goal of American foreign policy should first and foremost be the defense of American lives and goals. There’s no more reason to go back into Iraq now than there was to invade back in 2003."This is corporate MSM at its finest. They do nothing to connect 2003 with 2014. They indulge the Republican super-sized wet dream: "Obama lost Iraq, like Roosevelt lost China !!"
This all goes off as a series of Ad Biz tricks. We can start to decode the intent of the Daily Beast pieces -- and see why paid placement pumps today's piece to the top at Google -- when we recognize that MSM are in Rat Pack mode trying to serve corporate interests.
The multinational corporations need Perpetual War and they know it. The underground al-Qaeda has lost the War on Terror. Not to Bush43, but to Obama who has lost only 10 Americans to Islamic terror attacks. Bush lost 3,206. AQI-ISIS, going forward, is very good for MIC financial planning. Clearly the corporations are in love with ISIS, The Budget Hero.
All that matters is money. For Daily Beast readers: suspend disbelief.
Ignore that ISIS exists and that the Bushies' WMDs didn't exist. Forget that Saddam Hussein governed through the Ba'athist Party with a 60:40 mix for Shi'ia and Sunni. Never mention that the one verifiable motive for invasion in 2003 was payback for an alleged plot to kill George H.W. Bush during a visit to Saudi Arabia.
Stay away from facts.
Daily Beast and MSM rely on our failure to grasp the principles of Inductive Logic. Their argument addresses 2003, but this is 2014. Their logical displacement is a prime example of Ignoratio Elenchi:
A purported refutation of a proposition or proposal that establishes a related but truly irrelevant proposition.Sure thing, 2003 was the start of the Bush Catastrophe in Iraq. The SOB and his Bremer & Friends killed 1,455,000 Iraqis measured by total extra deaths. (Not limited to guns and bombs.) They pushed Iraq's Sunni population out of every job with every large scale enterprise in the country. Sunni villages were pushed back to the Stone Age. Infant mortality skyrocketed, contrary to CIA lies on their web pages.
All of which says nothing about Iraq being invaded by a horde of Islamist raiders in 2014.
The big deal, the central message at Daily Beast is that President Obama is going to fail. It must be repeated: Obama is going to fail. In today's piece I count 13 separate claims of failure among the Democrats.
The 2003-2011 Occupation failed so anything will fail now. Obama's humanitarian outreach for the Yazidi must lead to massive invasion, death and failure-failure-failure.
The sexy Black Guy is impotent ??? What else can they say?
What else indeed?

All through corporate MSM they're pushing ignorance. They pump up ISIS, despite that the ISIS forces in Syria haven't taken a mile of territory from the Shi'ia ground troops. The Syrian Army holds its ground around Damascus. Same for Hizb Allah and the Qods Force commandos in southern Syria.
The one big set piece centered on al-Qusayr south of Damascus. The attackers lost thousands of troops and retreated. That was in 2012. A defensive Qusayr Model was set up with a 10 kilometer radius defensive perimeter. They minimized the opportunities available to disguised suicide bombers. Then eventually the mixed Syrian, Lebanese, Iranian defenders switched over to successful counterattack.
In Iraq the ISIS raiders have done no better against counterattacks and Qusayr Model prepared defenses. ISIS, the Budget Hero, gets daily attention in American media. But we will notice that almost all of it is old news. things that happened early in June. News of the ISIS takeover of Mosul and Nineveh Province gets repeated over and over.
That minimal-opposition roll into Mosul gets their leader, the self-titled Caliph al-Baghdadi, compared with Genghis Khan. The great Khan never had a month like this:
Starting at the middle of July, ISIS has lost four major battles in Iraq:And the main oil refinery southeast of Mosul remains in Iraqi hands. ISIS made two attacks on the facility, then quit. Defense is carried out by Iraqi Army commandos backed with heavy artillery.-- At Tikrit to a 3,000 man counterattack;
-- the Al-Sahra Air Base to first-rate use of small arms and artillery;
-- at Samarra to a very strong defense; and
-- to another 2,000 man counterattack by Kurdish forces near Rabia and Sinjar.
The counterattack at Tikrit and the main battle at Samarra each cost ISIS full-scale attack groups. Wipe outs. The estimate for Tikrit runs 300 to 500 for ISIS dead. The Iraqis are still cleaning up the last of the mess, blasting three suicide-vehicles last week.
Samarra looked like Qusayr toward the end in 2012. 80 raiders dead at the city gate check points. And other 250 killed when they were caught out in open country. Together this was a slaughter.
All-out attacks using suicide bombers is what works for ISIS against the other Islamist rebels in Syria. Consider that the former "Free Syrian Army" collapsed when Hizb Allah and the Iranian Qods Force came in supporting the Assad government for the al-Qusayr battle. That FSA disintegration gave most of their troops and most of their arms to ISIS and JNTD (al-Nusra Front.)
John McCain still thinks there's a Free Syrian Army. Recalls a Pentagon joke: "WW III hit his desk as a memo."
MSM is brighter than McCain. Surely. They know that the Kurds counterattacked in the area near the Yazidi people and wiped out several ISIS units. And that wasn't even attacking with the core units of Peshmerga.
ISIS raiders are poor as soldiers. They have a Terror Shock attack plan, a combo of suicide bombers and close-range anti-aircraft guns in the 20mm and 23mm sizes. But up against first-rate military professionals, they fail again and again.
It is ISIS that is failing. Not Obama. Not the Assad regime fighting ISIS in Syria. Not the Iranians assisting with battalions on the ground in both Iraq and Syria.
Daily Beast ??? Read and have a good laugh. Their goals and misconstructions are that transparent.
